Tour Detail:

Stop At: Preah Dak, Cambodia

The village of Preah Dak, located a short drive from Siem Reap town, is known over the country for its famous nom ban chok noodles. Though thanks to a proactive district governor, it has also gathered fame as the pilot village for a ‘One Village, One Light Bulb’ scheme whereby each of the 518 households has been supplied solar panels to generate electricity. There are plans to roll out this scheme across other villages in the district. Preah Dak is also doing its bit by sorting rubbish and keeping itself clean. Basically, it has become a model village, though definitely retaining its authenticity and beauty. It’s definitely worth a visit to see typical village life, eat noodles and watch basket makers at work.

Stop At: Peng Chruonh

Peng Takhu or Peng Chrunh ”is a hidden tourist site located on the ridge of Kulen Mountain.

Before arriving at the foot of the mountain, tourists will see a signpost from the "Peung Takhu or Peung Chrunh" location on the right hand side, which is 50 meters from the signpost.

Stop At: Great Buddha (Preah Ang Thom Pagoda)

Preah Ang Thom is an 8 meters (26 ft) tall statue of the reclining Buddha reaching nirvana. The statue is carved into a huge natural sandstone boulder to which a modern staircase has been added along with a shelter over the Buddha. It is a very sacred and special site for all Cambodians and there are always patrons visiting the site and at times becoming quite busy.
On the streets surrounding the pagoda, you’ll find plenty of souvenir stalls, and preceding the stairs there is a grand naga balustrade and an entrance arch flanked by elephants (all contemporary). On reaching the entrance to the pagoda, you can take off your shoes; say your blessings, then, head up the staircase to the grand Buddha. There are numerous modern sculptures around the site, a Buddha’s foot imprint or Buddhapada (near where you leave your shoes), and it’s a special place to relax and think, or not think, albeit likely busy.

Stop At: River of 1000 Lingas (Anlong Pong Phkay)

Along a stretch of the riverbed for around 500 m there are carvings of linga, several big and small yoni, and a large carving of Vishnu. Along the walls of the riverbed, a small carving is also seen in the bedrock.

Stop At: Waterfall

There are two main waterfall in Phnom Kulen National Park.

  • First waterfall: 4–5 metres (13–16 ft) tall and around 25 metres (82 ft) wide during the rainy seasons.
  • Second waterfall: 15–20 metres (49–66 ft) tall and around 15 metres (49 ft) wide during the rainy seasons.

The size of the waterfalls varies according to the seasons and the rain. Visiting the waterfalls is a popular activity on Kulen Mountain Tour.

Stop At: Beng Mealea Temple

Beng Mealea is a very impressive temple built in the reign of King Suryavarman II, 12th century CE, and modified by Jayavarman VII. It is located in Beng Mealea village, Beng Mealea commune, Svay Leu District, Siem Reap province. It is about 77 Km Northwest of Siem Reap town and faces the eastern part of Kulen mountain on one side. Importantly, it is situated along the Royal Road to the east of Angkor, where leads from the eastern part of Bakheng mountain.
