The village of Preah Dak, located a short drive from Siem Reap town, is known over the country for its famous nom ban chok noodles. Though thanks to a proactive district governor, it has also gathered fame as the pilot village for a ‘One Village, One Light Bulb’ scheme whereby each of the 518 households has been supplied solar panels to generate electricity. There are plans to roll out this scheme across other villages in the district. Preah Dak is also doing its bit by sorting rubbish and keeping itself clean.
